Preparatory CollegeThe Preparatory School of the Central University of Nationalities was established in 1951, which initiated the preparatory education for students from minority groups in China. After 50 years of running, the Preparatory School has already established a preparatory educational system with Chinese characteristics for ethnic students and set a good example for education of the same kind in the world.
In the early years of the new nation, the Party and the government set up the preparatory education for students from minority groups in colleges and universities in order to foster more ethnic talents and speed up the regional development and construction. For 50 years, the Preparatory School of the Central University of Nationalities alone has cultivated more than 15,000 students. These students specialized in politics, administration, medicine, hydraulics, electricity, machinery, etc. and were admitted by around 100 universities and polytechnic schools such as Qinghua University, Beijing University, Renmin University of China, the Central University of Nationalities, etc. Among the graduates, there are 11 leaders of the provincial level. What’s more, there are lots of experts, scholars and professors. For example: resercher Liu Xiaochun, the first doctor degree holder of the Oroqen national minority; Prof. Zhong Jinwen, the first doctorate holder of the Yugur national minority; Prof. Guo Rui, the first doctor degree holder of the Wa national minority. They have played a significant role no matter in the regional domestic reform and socialist transformation or in the construction of the four modernizations. For the national unity and our motherland’s reunification, they have defended the country and kept working in the frontier. They have made great contribution on the prosperity and harmony of all minority nationalities and the construction of the four modernizations. |
